Question: What do you know about Romanian wines ? Odds are, the answer is not much or nothing if your being truthful . IWCoK to the rescue! First off, this is one of the oldest wine regions in history. Current day Romania has been making wine for over 6,000 years! The flat, warm is ideal for many varieties. A second fact is that Romania is the 10th largest wines producing… more
May 2014
For our May box, we decided to keep things simple. For one thing, you will notice the new picture format for presenting the wines. Of course you can still find all the same info on the wines below the picture. And the our wines this month? We found some very classy regional winners. Simple fresh wines with scored very well both regionally and internationally. Nothing ostentatious, just a quiet confidence… more
April 2014
Apart from “Wait” becoming my motto for this months newsletter (sorry), I thought I would preempt some of the feedback that I expect to get from you all. What is this doing here? Indeed Tarapaca is a very common, readily available wine in just about every supermarket. What you don’t know is that the 2013 Sauvignon Blanc was voted BEST WHITE WINE by the members of the Sunday Times Wine… more
March 2014
March is Carnival month for many. For some Masopust in Trebotov may do the trick, but for others nothing else will substitute for Carnival in Venice – the grandaddy of all European costume events. March also means Spring. So this month we decided to put on our fancy hats, but away our thick socks, and celebrate with some wines that will not weigh us down as we Samba all night.… more

This month we intend to heat things up with some wine form the southern part of our planet. What better than South America! For this part of the world. we will be going back to “Our” specialist – Vinicola. They are the major mover for this region, and have put together a nice mix of Chilean and Argentinian wines that run the road from fresh to rich to satisfy everybody.… more
January 2014
One would expect the January newsletter to be all about how great 2013 was and our plans for the coming year. Indeed that is all coming, but (I assume) just like you, we at IWCoK needed a break in December. And the last 14 days we did exactly that: NOTHING. We just enjoyed some food and wine with family. Box ticked – not lets get to work ! In keeping… more
December 2013
Even Santa enjoys a drink at Christmas. That’s why we used him as our official December Box “stylist”. And as he sure knows how to through a party. This is important ! In December you have to make an appearance at a bunch of parties and an equal number of friends and relatives will be dropping by your place at some point before year end. That’s why Santa put a… more
November 2013
One thing I never expected to do in November was to visit a winery in Arizona. Indeed they exist and unfortunately there is not much to say other than “maybe in time” we will have something to talk about. So without any desert wine on our tables this month, I have followed the trail of a couple other wineries that we can call sure things. And to make it more… more
October 2013
If I had to pick a theme for this month box, it would be “BIG”. Big because we have some huge names in from the wine world both by region and by grape. So big in fact that our very elegant Bordeaux Blanc and our 100% Nebbiola from Piedmont take the supporting roles to two giants; Gigondas and Sancerre. Most of you are probably familiar with the name Sancerre, and… more
September 2013
September – big month. Summer holiday forgotten, kids back to school, early wake up, traffic and stress. This is why IWCoK took no chances this month and went straight for a couple of the most prestigious wine regions in the world, Bordeaux and Burgundy. This months featured importer is Chez Greg Pere et Fils located on Puskinova nam. in Prague 6. What looks small on the outside opens up to… more
