Start Your Holiday from Kosoř

Everybody is off on holiday, us too. So when you don’t have time to go hunting around for a great deal, where better to look than right under your nose.

All of us knew that Kosor is the HQ for the worlds’ finest wine club, but also to Eno Wines, Italian wine importer specializing solely on Tuscany and Veneto (for now….). Really, Eno is tucked away in the Kosor industrial estate on the edge of town. More important than location, is what Eno is bringing to our table. We found a great selection of Tuscan and Venetian wines to fill our box with, all offering outstanding quality (just check out the medals these wines racked up !) and all at a great price. So be it a hardy Sangiovese or a Prosecco, we are sure that Eno will have something that works with the start of your holiday.

Mike's Tip

Steel tank crisp and a good dash of minerals for a chardonnay. For those who like the “European” variety (i.e. mineral taste and not swimming in oak), you will enjoy this one.

Bidoli – Prosecco le Alte Bidoli DOC Extra Dry

Wine description:

  • Country: Italy
  • Grape: Prosecco
  • Alcohol: 11%
  • Drink: Wine for immediate consumption
  • Supplier: ENO vysněná vína
  • Price: 209 Kč

Mike's Tip

This one fooled me for a Brut proving that I am no bubble expert. For an extra dry, I thought this was exceptionally dry, with a light raisin and mineral finish.

Bidoli – Sauvignon Blanc DOC

Wine description:

  • Country: Italy
  • Grape: Sauvignon blanc
  • Alcohol: 12%
  • Style: Light and refreshing dry white wine
  • Drink: Wine for immediate consumption
  • Supplier: ENO vysněná vína
  • Price: 209 Kč

Mike's Tip

Right from the start, this is a bronze medal winner from Decanter. Light and tangy mineral taste with a classic Sauvignon finish. Everything that you would expect.

Abbadia Ardenga – Rosso di Montalcino DOC

Wine description:

  • Country: Italy
  • Grape: Sangiovese
  • Alcohol: 14,5%
  • Style: Full-bodied red aged in oak
  • Drink: Wine suitable for aging
  • Supplier: ENO vysněná vína
  • Price: 344 Kč

Mike's Tip

One of my favorite wine varieties is Sangiovese – straight up. All that lovely tannin just goes so well with a big red bloody steak. Not that I want to give you a hint, but don’t leave this 14.5% big gun on the table without something that was MOOing a few weeks ago.

I Balzini – I Balzini Green Label IGT

Wine description:

  • Country: Italy
  • Grape: Cuveé
  • Alcohol: 13,5%
  • Style: Full-bodied, rich red wine
  • Drink: Wine with potencial 2 to 5 years
  • Supplier: ENO vysněná vína
  • Price: 340 Kč

Mike's Tip

Really an interesting one. Forget about the 87 points and and “Diploma of Honour”, and concentrate on the finish. The Mammolo leaves a very distinct end that will not leave you sitting on the fence. Your either in or out, you decide.

Philarmonica Agoghe, Costa Toscana Rosato

Wine description:

  • Country: Italy
  • Grape: Cuveé
  • Alcohol: 13,5%
  • Style: Medium-bodied red wine
  • Drink: Wine with potencial 2 to 5 years
  • Supplier: ENO vysněná vína
  • Price: 198 Kč

Mike's Tip

I like these slightly acidic roses with a big bowl of cheese risotto. Something to cut through all that fat. With this one I suggest anything involving A LOT of cheese :-)

Philarmonica, Tageto Costa Toscana Rosso IGT

Wine description:

  • Country: Italy
  • Grape: Merlot
  • Alcohol: 12,5%
  • Style: Light and refreshing rose wine
  • Drink: Wine for immediate consumption
  • Supplier: ENO vysněná vína
  • Price: 335 Kč

Mike's Tip

This is what they call a “Super Tuscan”, meaning that they wanted to go outstide the rule book to blend more varieties than the local rule book allows. What came out is what you expect out of Bordeaux – it doesn’t disappoint.
