Now here is a wine variety you will not find anywhere outside of Corsica. My understanding is that they traditionally looked for red wines meant to be drank young and in warm weather. What you get is a light, fruity red with heavy tannin. Perfect for a roast chicken.

You may ask "what is this wine doing here" ?, and I have a simple answer. Despite California not being located on Corsica, it is still bloody good ! :-) Classic American Cabernet with a quality, price ratio that deserves our attention - Full and balanced. Its great.

A mystery and a pleasure. Dark and rusty in colour, with a hint of vanilla and anis on the nose. Pair with cold smoked meats and strong cheese for that sunset in the garden.

The winemaker describes this wine as a bit "savage". Black fruits and a bit spicy, this is a wine of character with a Hachette recommendation (not many Corsican wines do!)

This mix of Vermentino and Chardonnay delivers a fuller flavour of flowers and pineapple. A bit longer in the finish, but still light and fruity. Will do well with salmon on the grill.

Look here for a mix of citrus and white tree fruit like pears and red apple. Vermentino is a late harvest grape, and this one had the whole summer to soak up the Corsican sunshine.

And now for something completely different. A provincial Corsican grape grown in the hills surrounding the Pont du Gard. A medium bodied red with a subtle, but unmistakeable pepper flavour. Not overpowering or unpleasant, but you can't miss it. Enjoy it !

For me the two top regions for Sauvignon Blanc are Marlborough and the Loire, and this is a great example of the second. Gooseberries have a sweet & sour flavor with distinctive "nettle" flavor. This wine will take you away to your cottage garden.

Light… This is the best description I can give to this cuvee of Nielluccio, Pinot Noir and Syrah toned down to a tame 12% alcohol. This is a lunch wine best paired with pork or chicken. Fruity and a bit acidic, this is a wine that must be drank with food at a table. Forget the sofa and chips here.

The first thing to know about any Chablis, is this is Chardonnay pure and simple. It comes from a land full of lime stone, that gives it it's distinct dry and crisp flavour. This wine has all that at a price that will not break the bank. Oysters or white fish will be your best bet.

The name of this Rhone blend comes from the middle ages when crossing a bandit infested forest could cost you your life. God's Plain (Plan de Dieu) was the salvation on the other side. Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre, all aged in oak for 12 months gives this ruby red treat a distinct flavor.

The family Doublet has a solid presence in Bordeaux, and above all a chateaux styled in a "Louisiana" style. This blend of sauvignon blanc and Semillon from way down south takes us to the next level. Grapefruit, fresh cut grass and a fabulous balance for such a dry wine. Loved it!
