Travel update

29.7.2015

My day job gives me the chance to experience some of Europe’s best (and worst) airports, transit lounges and very bland hotels. So when you come across a really exceptional place, it is really a pleasure to share and shout! Talin5

This time it is a restaurant that I make an effort to return to whenever I am in town. The restaurant is Restaurant Leib located in Tallin.  (yes Estonia does do more than just Skype!)

Neither fancy or expensive, Lied serves some of the freshest Nordic cuisine you will find anywhere. That means herring, vegetables that will survive the freezing winter climate, maybe some bird that can do the same, more fish and top it all off with a rhubarb compote. Trust me, I am not a fan of eating roots, but the way they do it here is first class. And this with what the locals say is best wine list of any restaurant in Estonia.

And the wine? All I can say is this place is the only restaurant I have ever been to that has wines from Chateau Dracy in Burgundy. Just south of the Cote de Beaune, this place has a special place in my book, as it was my home for a few months each summer many a year back.

Best Regards

Mike
