Wow. Chocolate, pepper, mint, honey and vanilla all in an oak barrel. Complex and very elegant and all that lovely tannin you expect from a pure Merlot. Trust me here, you are going to want more of this one.

Mike's Tip

This is a tour de force of Mallorcan red grape varieties. What surprised me was the the presence of raspberry and the light tannic finish. A very easy wine to pair, as it will not over power and the tannin will help cut through even the heaviest of cheese or sauce. Red fruits - a true summer sipper.

Strong on the nose, easy on the pallet. This blend of two lesser known grapes (Callet a Fogoneu) has a light, raspberry flavor. Definitely a white meat wine, or salami and ham on the balcony. I suggest popping it in the fridge for a few minutes and serving it slightly cooler than what you are normally used to.

WARNING, give this one some air! Have to admit that this had too much green pepper for my taste when I poured it into the glass. Had one sip, then moved on. Came back 20 minutes later and couldn't put it down. Blueberry and a touch of oak, and great tannin balance. Given time this is a very well rounded heavy hitter ready for some red meat.

Mike's Tip

Aged in French oak for 6 months, this is an interesting blend of chardonnay and moll. On one side all the fullness of one of the most famous white grapes, but mixed with the spicy acidic character of the local variety. Very elegant and a sure thing for any fine dinner.

I will be the first to admit, this was a first for me. Sure we have tried many clarets and finding red grapes in a white cuvee is nothing unusual, but a blanc de Merlot, really? Rich and extremely full bodied with lots of apricot. We loaded up - good fun this one ;-)

I think that Muskat for most Czechs has a bad reputation. But when you find a dry award winner, with those same flowery tones - it is magic. So much spice, flowers and nutmeg. This is another wine from Miguel Oliver having a strong character all its own . One of the islands most celebrated wineries.

The maker of this wine just 3 years ago celebrated 100 years of production. They must be doing something right. 100% Prensal, this is a local grape making a clear light wine with a crisp mineral taste. If there was ever a "Pepa Novak" of white Mallorcan wines, this is your man.

Blanc de Blancs

Mike's Tip

For a summer white, unbelievably complex. In simple terms fresh and spicy. I had strong floral tastes of fruit, herbs and roses making a joy to discover. Every sip brings a news taste to the pallet making all the more puzzling. Moll and muskat are 2 of the most prominent white grapes on Mallorca, making this great ambassador.

Close your eyes and take a sip. Taste pineapple? We sure did. Expect a lot of fruit and acidity up front, but with a relatively short finish making it a refreshing easy to drink wine.
