Vinum Veritas
We are happy to be bringing you a selection of French wines this month from our new supplier Lex Vinum. And old friend and previous supplier, Lex Vinum have updated their web and selection to treat us to some of their specialties this March.
Our whites are evenly split between Sauvignons and Chardonnays. I love the crisp herbal and mineral tomes of sauvignon, as they always feel fresh. And I know that those buttery chardonnays with their long finish are always a easy choice for dinners or relaxing. All of these wines have a list of accolades from regional competitions, so get set for a nice surprise.
The reds are predominantly a mix of Bordeaux and Rhone varieties giving a mix of both balanced round reds and tannic wines that do best with red meats and sausages. These are all great picnic reds, that will make any sandwich in the country a memorable event.

Mike's Tip
A blend of Syrah and Merlot with tones of blueberry, black current and chocolate. A relatively heavy mix that your need to let breath to open up, and show off its best. Serve with grilled meats.

Mike's Tip
This blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon, and Vermentino from the south of France delivers flavors of pineapple, lime, pears and a light breeze of flowers. Full bodied, it will go best with white meats or some spicy Asian take away.

Mike's Tip
If you can figure out the meaning of the iguana and the name, please let me know. Otherwise this blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier is well balanced, and has a long oily finish making it a great wine to pair with cream dishes or chicken. It took the gold medal in Macon in 2022, you will know why.

Mike's Tip
It is relatively rare to find a varietal Sauvignon Gris on the table, but when it comes from the Loire valley, you can be sure of the quality. A pink grape, it has a pronounced acidity and apple and earthy / floral tones. Great with sushi!

This "Garden of Magic" not only will surprise you, it also won over the jury at Gilbert & Gaillard magazine earning a gold medal in 2023. Typically crisp and full of minerals.

Mike's Tip
A fantastic Bordeaux Blend at half the price (and not from Bordeaux ;-). Well balanced mix of Cabernet and Merlot delivering the red fruits, prunes and vanilla you can expect.

Mike's Tip
One of those where Vivinum gets it wrong! A solid 4 in my book. This is a very well balanced blend with light tanning and a touch of coffee and chocolate. Very relaxing and a perfect wine to finish off after dinner and relax to.

Mike's Tip
An interesting blend that will likely be a premier in your home. This blend of Carignan and Grenache is full of dark fruits that jump out at you and wrapped in a liquorice wrapper. A big helping of tannins here too, so pair with red meat, with a bit of gristle. This wine is not shy!
