La Fatorria
Summer is finally here, and we are heading south to Italy with a selection of wines from our old friends at La Fattoria.
Our whites start from Italy’s “Sunshine State” of Sicily and make their way up to the Tuscan hillside. And not to miss a hot spot, a Lugana form the shores of Lago di Garda is also included with that lovely finish, that keeps bringing us back for more (and more…)
Our reds bring in a new variety for us to try called Monica. She hails from Sardinia and is so smooth, you will be straight off to the internet to book a holiday trip on the island. And what would an Italian box be without (my favourite variety) Sangiovese and Chianti! I made sure they had a prominent role : -)
So put on your shorts and flip flops, grab a hat and a book, and pour yourself a glass of relax – It is time !!!

Mike's Tip
The sunshine on Sicily makes this Grillo irresistible. Clear, fresh and clean from start to finish. Look for a bit of green apple on top of other tropical fruit. This wine has a short finish, so pair with mild cheese / foods.

Mike's Tip
Vegan wine? You bet. This Trebbiano does not have that "natural" earthy flavour so many organic wines possess. Fruity and clear and ideal for drinking during the week with its screw top.

Mike's Tip
This is a Tuscan "Swiss Army Knife" white wine - meaning it does everything well enough. A blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Grigio, this will do well on holiday and outside dining. Simple and good.

Mike's Tip
Apples, pears and limes bring a medium level of acidity and a fresh taste. Blended on a base of Peccorino, this is perfect for hot days and starters of all kinds.

Mike's Tip
This is an entry level Chianti with all the hallmarks. Cherries up front, not overweight in the mouth and a little spice on the end. This is a perfect red meat wine for me - Sangiovese Uber Alles :-)

Mike's Tip
Located near Venice, the Vento region is most famous for being the region of Prosecco. But it is also the region of Amarone, so quality grapes for red wines are there. Cabernets are not typical for the region, so thought this dry, fuller flavor wine would be a fun change.

Mike's Tip
More on the dry style of Primitivo, this is a smoky and tobacco filled black and raspberry fruit bomb. And like all Primitivo, so very drinkable, any time, any where !

Mike's Tip
The red berries coming from this steel tank wine are fresh and just a little sour. Sangiovese just as we like it. An excellent wine for steak or other gilled red meats.
