Mike's Tip

This wine comes from a small family owned winery in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Specializing in organic farming has led to consistent wines of the highest quality. This Pinot Noir rose is exceptionally fresh and tasty, with lots of strawberry and cranberry flavor. Dry as bone and just like the clay soil it came from. This one will be a hit!

I like these slightly acidic roses with a big bowl of cheese risotto. Something to cut through all that fat. With this one I suggest anything involving A LOT of cheese :-)

Philarmonica, Tageto Costa Toscana Rosso IGT

This is what they call a “Super Tuscan”, meaning that they wanted to go outstide the rule book to blend more varieties than the local rule book allows. What came out is what you expect out of Bordeaux – it doesn’t disappoint.

Abbadia Ardenga – Rosso di Montalcino DOC

One of my favorite wine varieties is Sangiovese – straight up. All that lovely tannin just goes so well with a big red bloody steak. Not that I want to give you a hint, but don’t leave this 14.5% big gun on the table without something that was MOOing a few weeks ago.

I Balzini – I Balzini Green Label IGT

Really an interesting one. Forget about the 87 points and and “Diploma of Honour”, and concentrate on the finish. The Mammolo leaves a very distinct end that will not leave you sitting on the fence. Your either in or out, you decide.

Bidoli – Prosecco le Alte Bidoli DOC Extra Dry

This one fooled me for a Brut proving that I am no bubble expert. For an extra dry, I thought this was exceptionally dry, with a light raisin and mineral finish.

Bidoli – Chardonnay DOC

Steel tank crisp and a good dash of minerals for a chardonnay. For those who like the “European” variety (i.e. mineral taste and not swimming in oak), you will enjoy this one.

Bidoli – Sauvignon Blanc DOC

Right from the start, this is a bronze medal winner from Decanter. Light and tangy mineral taste with a classic Sauvignon finish. Everything that you would expect.
