September – big month. Summer holiday forgotten, kids back to school, early wake up, traffic and stress. This is why IWCoK took no chances this month and went straight for a couple of the most prestigious wine regions in the world, Bordeaux and Burgundy.

This months featured importer is Chez Greg Pere et Fils located on Puskinova nam. in Prague 6. What looks small on the outside opens up to an impressive selection of French wines and delcatesies.

Start in Burgundy, where almost all the white wine produced is Chardonnay and split between two “Schools”. The rounder more oak flavored wines of St Veran and our Chablis, and the more crisp mineral taste of Solutre Pouille (indeed the neighbor of Pouille Fusse). In red they make what are arguably the finest Pinot Noir in the world, but also the lesser known Gamays of the Beaujolais village. And we got one here.

Regarding Bordeaux, what to say. We have a truly remarkable right bank Supérieur red that was recognized by the “Guide Hachette” as a “Coup de coeur “.

We rounded things off with something from the Gasconne which is to the South West of Bordeaux. Similar in taste to the reds of that area and the white !? Get ready for a surprise.
