A tasty start
And here we go!
The folks here at IWCoK are SUPER happy to be starting a new year., and to commemorate this “Historic” January (yes, this sounds over dramatic and like one of those nonsense political press releases, but stay with me ), we went for wines that are as far from the center as possible. Yes, we went extreme on both the White and Red.
Our whites are light and fresh. Vinho Verde, Alvarino and crispy Pinot Blanc. Nothing complicated, nothing heavy, just clean, delicate, fresh, and easy to drink – any time.
Our reds are defiantly from the other party. They are brutally heavy (Primitivo), jammy and loaded with ripe fruits and alcohol (Negroamaro). Not for the faint hearted, these wines will over power anything in their way.
So even even if you sit in the middle of the wine spectrum, dipping your tastes into the extremes is always a fun adventure. Enjoy

Mike's Tip
A true vinho Verde from the finest grapes of the region, Loureiro, Trajadura, and Alvarinho. Expect tropical fruits and flowers both in the nose and mouth. Perfect for fried white fish.

This is a single variety Vinho Verde with an elegant, long finish. More complex that many of the regional cuvee, this is a wine for fish and hard white cheese.

Mike's Tip
If a Primitivo is too much for your taste, think of this wine as the "little brother" . Intense red color and lost of ripe fruit, the taste is significant, but not overpowering.

Mike's Tip
Impressive at first site. The granite soil of the Dao, and on the edge of the highest mountain in the country, this mix of apple, toast, and spice make this full bodied wine very powerful.
