South by South
Easter holidays always start me thinking about summer. And specifically summer holidays – inevitably someplace South of here. The sea, the hills, or combo of the two, I cant wait for some warm summer days and some great food and drink to go with.
Our white selection this month brings some lovely Italians wines from the coast. Refreshing and herbal, these are wines that will keep you light on your feet. Trebbiano, Verdicchio and Chardonnay mixed with a little sea salt and local treats, these are perfect for getting you in the move for some fish on the grill.
The reds are also a mix of “Southern Comfort”. Bet it a classic full bodied Primitivo full of fruit and jam, a Montepuliciano with its strong herbal character, a classic Tuscan, and a Spaniard from Catalonia that will knock your socks off. All ready for starting your grill season.

You guys know what to expect from a Primitivo by now, and this one with 5 years of a 3.8 Vivino rating will not disappoint. Dark, heavy and a bit sweet, it is silky smooth and will put you into relax mode after the first glass ;-)

Very berry. In other words a wine full of small dark fruit that is always tasty - cherries and black berries with a bit of tobacco and tannin to make it a perfect dinner wine.

Medium body red that will get better by the day. A mix of red fruit and a bit of herbs, may start a bit medicinal but will mellow out after a few minutes in the glass. Take your time with this one!

I love when I discovering new Tuscan wines. In this case a classic Chianti with all the hallmarks - raspberries, cherries and a bit a licorice. Medium bodied and ready for any occasion (or pizza from the take away).
