If you forget about the morning traffic, the fall is a magical time. Cooler evenings, the turning color of the leaves, and a perfect time to go back to some full bodied wines from the East in classic French style. This is Bulgaria season!
Subtle is not what Bulgarian winemakers do. Expect whites of Chardonnay and oak, Sauvignon blanc with clarity and zest, and even a blanc de noirs that will surprise you all. Reds are big and robust Bordeaux style blends. Some literally from old Bordeaux winemakers who set up shop in the Thracian Valley just after the revolution. These are wines that (still) offer exceptional value for money.
Treat yourself to something big not not subtle this fall – you deserve it !
