Mediterranean Waves

This month we grab our surfboards and head to the sea to ride the wave of Mediterranean wines from across the region. Never too early to start to start making holiday plans!
Both dry Chardonnays and fresh blends on a base of Sauvignon are preparing us for our journey. These will fill your mouth with minerals and salt while not getting stuck in your teeth!
The reds ride a monster of Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, and Grenache. All big flavors worthy of the best of your friends in Kosor or Nazare ( we of course prefer the former ;-)
Lets Go!!

Light yellow in color, this is a classic Italian white from the Vento region in the North. Green tones from apples and a little bit of almond in its' finish.

On a base of Sauvignon this wine from the sunny hills overlooking the Mediterranean is an easy drink for your everyday fix. Nothing that demands a good pairing on the table, just a light, refreshing drink of citrus and light green herbs.

A natural white wine from the home of Napoleon, Corsica. This is a mix of exotic fruits, vanilla and caramel over a fruit base and medium acidity.

Something that calls for a summer holiday (or reminds you of one). This classic Mediterranean rose from Corsica blends Sciaccarellu, Grenache, Sciaccarellu and Cinsault will be a familiar summer taste, in a blend you have never had before. A little oily, and full of pineapple, strawberry and lemon.

Mike's Tip
This powerful red from the Languedoc region is a blend of Syrah and Grenache. Best match for BBQs and cooked meats. The Syrah works best with protein on your fork !
Les Bastides

Wine description:
- Country: France

- Alcohol: 14,5%
- Style: Full-bodied, rich red wine
- Drink: Wine with potencial 2 to 5 years
- Supplier: Vinodome
- vivino: 3.8
- Price: 229 Kč
Mike's Tip
A versatile blend that despite its' power has a medium body in the mouth. The mix of Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon brings lots of black fruit to the pallet, but did not weigh me down. It went great with my BBQ, but could also work with a pork chop and salad. Another treat from Aix-en-Provence !
Patrimonio

Wine description:
- Country: France
- Grape: Cuveé
- Alcohol: 14%
- Style: Full-bodied, rich red wine
- Drink: Wine with potencial 2 to 5 years
- Supplier: Vinodome
- vivino: 3.6
- Price: 239 Kč
Mike's Tip
Technically a cuvee, but given the 90% base of Nielluciu , this is a full bodied fruity wine that will remind many of Primitivo, or Negroamaro. On the hills in Corsica overlooking the sea, this vineyard has been continuously producing wines since the 17th century. Expect dark fruits and a huge front end. Will be best to decant or put this one away and come back to it in the fall.
Chateau Jaubertie

Wine description:
- Country: France
- Grape: Cuveé
- Alcohol: 14,5%
- Style: Full-bodied, rich red wine
- Drink: Wine with potencial 2 to 5 years
- Supplier: Vinodome
- vivino: 3.7
- Price: 259 Kč
Mike's Tip
A mix of Merlot and Malbec, this is a wine of soft tannin, red fruits, prunes and vanilla. And ideal wine for salami and cold plates of cheese and meats. One of those wines to take with you to the sofa after dinner (if there is any left).
