Box: February 2025

Here we go again

Welcome to another year with IWCoK.

My apologies for starting this year with a few days delay of our first box. We hit a perfect storm of holiday, sickness and “day job” that kept me away from the cellar till the last  moment – But to make it up to you all, we have some real winers this month.

Pecorino, Veltliner and a Petit Chablis all found their way into our white selection, all with top ratings from experts across the world.  We even brought back a Muscatel for something a little different this winter.

Our reds are full of novelties. A rare Croation red from the Dalmatian coast, A Slovakia Cabernet Franc, an Austrian Zweigent, and a Primitivo literally span the red wine a scale.  What ever you look for in your favorite red variety, you will find it in one of these.

2025 starts our 14th year at IWCoK – and we hope you are all staying for 14 more !

Think exotic fruits matched with salty crisps. Your palate will combine hints of melon, apricot and banana and feel like you stirred it all up with a rather salty sea shell. Complex and medium acidity.

Muscatel is a variety known for it's strong floral scent, often referred to as perfume. Past the scent is a light white that combines orange peal and roses.

Some will argue that the best Chardonnay in the world comes from Burgundy in France - I have to agree. The terroir of the region gives it that special delicacy and minerality that separates it from all others. Another fantastic Chablis for a special occasion.

Dried plums, leather and tobacco. This is yet another top rated Primitivo this time from Puglia. Make no mistake, this is a full bodied wine that wants salami, demands hard cheese and will ensure you never leave the sofa after finishing the bottle.

Low tannin and acidity, this medium bodied wine is a perfect match for chicken or pork. A little spicy in the finish, and Jamy up front, make it an easy drinking wine for light foods.

Babić is an autochthonous red variety from Croatian Dalmatia. The wine was produced by Juraj Sladic, one of the most important Croatian winemakers. It is an elegant red wine with a dark ruby color. It has the aroma of local Makarska cherries and Dalmatian herbs. Medium-bodied wine with a fruity taste and pleasant acid

Cherry and plum wrapped in spice and tobacco best describes this velvet smooth Tempranillo. This medium to heavy bodied wine from the heart of the Ribera del Duero appellation has exquisite balance and flavour.
