Nature in the Glass
This month we went natural – like 100% natural. Our Nature in a Glass Box brings you an exclusive variety of nature wines from our friend at Organic Wines. Think fresh, delicate, chemical and sulfite missing, head-ache free wines to enjoy this June. You have all drank natural wines many times before, but it is not often we can fill an entire box up with nature. I can’t wait to get started.
Our Whites bring a mix in every sense of the word. Single variety wines like Grillo (from the south), Veltliner (from the north), a radical mix of North and South, and a variety that nobody has every heard of before Fiano (nothing to do with Shrek’s wife). These wines each bring something completely different to the table making you ready for anything that comes to mind for dinner.
Our Reds bring take a heavy Spanish presence of Syrah and Tempranillo. But we didn’t forget some all time favorites like a Primitivo from Puglia and a special rare appearance of a Slovenian cuvee.
Nature is always relaxing, and this month you can drink with confidence that the next day will be relaxing too.
Il Sole Bianco

Mike's Tip
Grillo is a variety that grows well in the hot climates of southern Italy and particularly Sicily. Pale in color but not in taste, look for citrus and almonds in this medium bodied white.

Mike's Tip
Undoubtably the most famous white wine variety from Austria, Gruner Veltliner is a hit with most of us. An easy drinking wine combining minerals, citrus an a touch of pepper. Clean and refreshing.

If they gave out gold medals for "mixology", this blend of 4 white varieties would be a contender. Taking full bodied varieties from the south and blending them with Sauvignon delivers a crisp yet full wine that has the experts convinced

Mike's Tip
Pretty simple really, "Only Fiano" ! A variety grown mostly in Puglia, look for minerals (salt), green apple, lemon and anis. Highly acclaimed and meant to be drank cold on hot days.

Cherries and Plums - that is all you have to know. A classic Zinfandel that has all the "persistence" you expect from these southern Italian bombshells.

This is a full bodied mouthful of strawberry, raspberry and all things red growing in the garden. Syrah has amazing characters that come out different all over the world, but the common thread is re fruit. Fruity and powerful.

Always a pleasure to have a Slovenian wine is our box! This blend of Refosco and Cabernet Sauvignon is of medium body, light flavours and acidity. Will go great with salami or pasta dishes.

A sweet fruity entry with a dry, medium finish. This is a lovely blend of acidity, tannin and alcohol and 100% relaxing from start to finish. If you are just to chill on the sofa, you could not find a better companion.
