Home delivery
We picked the name, “Home delivery” for one obvious (we do it) and one less obvious reason. The latter being that many of this months wines are available on Rohlik. So if you find a wine that you absolutely have to have every weekend till the end of 2025, one of us can make that happen for you right to your door
So what’s inside ? We took two paths this month in wanting the whites to be very fresh and natural, and our reds to be a geographic mix of one grape. More on that in a minute.
Our whites come from a Bio winery from just south of the border in Austria. Fresh clean Gruner Veltliners and Rieslings that deliver impressive value (and help save the planet all at the same time). Seriously these wines from the Groiss vineyard are of a quality that will impress everyone around the table.
Our reds this month answer the question of haw many different ways (and names) can you do a Primitivo. We take two Californian Zinfandels and pair them off with the more familiar taste of southern Italy. You are free to pick your favorite – we won’t force you to like America first .
And lastly my sincere apologies for the late delivery this month. For the first time in over 15 years, some events related to my “day job” took me away for a few days. But we are back and back on your table (and ready for Christmas) .

Groiss Classic

Mike's Tip
The winemaker must be a poet as well, "The butterfly loves organic vineyards and the lightness of being - just like our Grüner Veltliner Classic: Fine herbal spice, citrus and apple aromas tickle the palate". A great value Austrian that will have you asking for more.
Ried Steinberg

Mike's Tip
This single vineyard wine is grown on steep slopes filled with thistles which protect the bees and butterflies from predators. In return, they add a subtle touch of elegance to what is a serious and complex Veltliner.

Mike's Tip
A long finish of apricot, sweetness and acidity closes the story of this dragonfly. As the winemaker says, where the dragonfly lives is a place of natural harmony.

Mike's Tip
I consider myself more of a red drinker, but I LOVE a New Zealand Sauvignon from the Marlborough region. So fresh and full of grass, it is the only white wine I could describe as tasting "green".

Mike's Tip
Californian Zinfandel at its best. Dark fruits, a little jammy and lots of fruity flavor jumping out at your. A sturdy red wine perfect for burgers or pizza.
Montenero Primitivo

Mike's Tip
The deepest ruby color, and the most jammy of all the Primitivo's of the month. A good dose of character here that comes our will with a bit of leather, spice and the hallmark sweet fruit finish.

Mike's Tip
I was saying that we have had enough Primitivo of late, and need to mix things up ;-). So why not a mix with a little Syrah ? I feel the Californian Zinfandels are a bit lighter than the southern Italian entries, and the Syrah definitely adds a bit of red fruit, to an otherwise dark, vanilla, tobacco blend.

Mike's Tip
Interesting as this one was picked up by Emirates Airlines for their on board tipple. Dark fruits to the top, but very fruity and well balanced. Will be looking for tis one on the next flight to Dubai !
