Mike's Tip

Some of you may remember the Enira 2008 with the very suspicious label we did two years back. This time we have the Reserva
that is without exaggeration - Incredible. For those of you looking for one of the best red wines from Bulgaria in the last 10 years, put this one on your must do list. Absolutely amazing.

From the packaging to the taste, this cuvee is
everything you expect from a top Bulgarian producer. Excellent balance and soft tannins, this is a wine for dinner with your best friends or sipping on the sofa. Worth every crown and a bargain at this price. Highly recommended.

Tcherga 2013

Wine description:

  • Country: Bulgaria
  • Grape: Cuveé
  • Alcohol: 13,5%
  • Style: Medium-bodied red wine
  • Drink: Wine for immediate consumption
  • Supplier: Prowine
  • Box: Balkan Style
  • Price: 185 Kč

Mike's Tip

The first time I saw this wine was in the departure hall in Sofia. Needless to say a little suspicious with its' Balkan carpet design. Forget the carpet and try this honest and respectable red blend from Domain Menada. Based in Stara Zagora, I expect us to be hearing more about this winery as they have already done well in France and are expanding all the time.

Angel Syrah and Merlot

Wine description:

  • Country: Bulgaria
  • Grape: Cuveé
  • Alcohol: 14,5%
  • Style: Full-bodied, rich red wine
  • Drink: Wine with potencial 2 to 5 years
  • Supplier: Prowine
  • Box: Balkan Style
  • Price: 240 Kč

Mike's Tip

You are going to want some big hearty steak or gulas type stew for this one. Full of tannin and pepper and 14.5% content, this is a real mouthful. Be careful! This wine needs to breath. I highly recommended to let this one breath for at least 2 hours before drinking or decant.

Angel Viogner

Wine description:

  • Country: Bulgaria
  • Grape: Viogner
  • Alcohol: 13%
  • Style: Medium-bodied dry white wine
  • Drink: Wine with potencial 2 to 5 years
  • Supplier: Prowine
  • Box: Balkan Style
  • Price: 240 Kč

Mike's Tip

I didn't expect to find a Bulgarian white of this quality. To be completely truthful, I am not a big fan of the white wines in Bulgaria but this one stood out for it's fruity and dry style. Although Viogner may not be familiar to you, this grape is the queen of Rhone valley whites - Condrieu. This is a full bodied white full of peaches and pears.
