Mike's Tip

Located near Venice, the Vento region is most famous for being the region of Prosecco. But it is also the region of Amarone, so quality grapes for red wines are there. Cabernets are not typical for the region, so thought this dry, fuller flavor wine would be a fun change.

This is a Tuscan "Swiss Army Knife" white wine - meaning it does everything well enough. A blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Grigio, this will do well on holiday and outside dining. Simple and good.

Lupi Reali

  • Drink: Wine for immediate consumption
  • Supplier: La Fattoria
  • Box: La Fatorria

Mike's Tip

Vegan wine? You bet. This Trebbiano does not have that "natural" earthy flavour so many organic wines possess. Fruity and clear and ideal for drinking during the week with its screw top.

Roceno

Wine description:

  • Country: Italy
  • Grape: Cuveé
  • Alcohol: 12,5%
  • Style: Light and refreshing dry white wine
  • Drink: Wine for immediate consumption
  • Supplier: La Fattoria
  • Box: La Fatorria
  • vivino: 3.5
  • Price: 146 Kč

Mike's Tip

The sunshine on Sicily makes this Grillo irresistible. Clear, fresh and clean from start to finish. Look for a bit of green apple on top of other tropical fruit. This wine has a short finish, so pair with mild cheese / foods.

Valle Realle Trebbiano d’Abruzzo

Wine description:

Mike's Tip

Trebbiano is one of the most widely planted grape varieties in the world. And if you think you haven't tried it before, you are most likely wrong as this grape is an important component in making Cognac! Fresh and fairly acidic, it is very often used to blend with other white wines. This wine in particular has a very low sugar count and should be drank immediately (yes, RIGHT now :-)

Valle Realle Montepulciano

Wine description:

Mike's Tip

This wine was named the, "Best wine to have with chili" by Forbes magazine. I'm not so sure about the chili con carne part, but this is a light fresh medium bodies red, that is best drank young. I like it for its strong tannins, and the short finish. Ideal for a light dinner and even goes well with white meat. Plus it is also coming from the ultra bio producers of Valle Reale. Chill out and save the earth dude...

Perdera Argiolas D.O.C.

Wine description:

Mike's Tip

What is it about that lovely round finish that keeps bringing us back to this place! Not a pure Carignano but still very round and easy to drink. Make sure to open and let sit for a good 30 minutes before starting. We didn't and found the first few sips to be full of earth and a bit tangy. 30 minutes later, you couldn't get it out of my hand.

Vernaccia di San Giminiano D.O.C.G.

Wine description:

Mike's Tip

Love you long time... This 100% Vernaccia from the Tuscan hills has a very long finish with a hint of almonds or something with some oil. Floral and fruity in the mouth, with a light nose. A good wine for the start of the party as not too complicated and very fresh.

Rosso Piceno Superiore

Wine description:

  • Country: Italy
  • Grape: Cuveé
  • Alcohol: 13%
  • Style: Medium-bodied red wine
  • Drink: Wine with potencial 2 to 5 years
  • Supplier: La Fattoria
  • Box: Kind of crazy January
  • Price: 249 Kč

Mike's Tip

This one sat in oak for months before going to the bottle. Look for plum and cherry flavor. The oposite of the Valpolicella, this wine is full and in your face ! Big, round flavors that will leave an impression. Red meat and cheese only and best all together:-)

Tedeschi Valpolicella Classico Reserve

Wine description:

  • Country: Italy
  • Grape: Valpolicela
  • Alcohol: 12,5%
  • Style: Medium-bodied red wine
  • Drink: Wine with potencial 2 to 5 years
  • Supplier: La Fattoria
  • Box: Kind of crazy January
  • Price: 299 Kč

Mike's Tip

Valpolicella can be a tricky one. The name conveys classic Italian, big round red. But in reality, these wines can be quite light and tannic. This one is light and has that tannic end, but in good measure making it drinkable for the masses. You will want to pair this one with red meat. The fat will balance the tannins and the wine won't fill you up.

Lugana Ottella

Wine description:

  • Country: Italy
  • Grape: Trebbiano
  • Alcohol: 12%
  • Style: Light and refreshing dry white wine
  • Drink: Wine for immediate consumption
  • Supplier: La Fattoria
  • Box: Kind of crazy January
  • Price: 389 Kč

Mike's Tip

What a great wine for an aperitif. This 100% Trebbiano is only 12.5%, but so full in flavor it is a great wine to set your pallet up for an exciting dinner. Will work great with salads, fish or pasta.

Falerio

Wine description:

  • Country: Italy
  • Grape: Cuveé
  • Alcohol: 12,5%
  • Style: Light and refreshing dry white wine
  • Drink: Wine for immediate consumption
  • Supplier: La Fattoria
  • Box: Kind of crazy January
  • Price: 179 Kč

Mike's Tip

This pale yellow wine is a blemd of Trebbiano, Passerina and Pecorino (no not he cheese!) gives a flowery and light acidic taste. I found it a bit more interesting than it's red brother. Much like the Ottella, it will do great as a starter or with a light (white food) meal. Look for the flowers in this one - they are everywhere!
