Simply Spanish

For our May box, we decided to keep things simple.

For one thing, you will notice the new picture format for presenting the wines. Of course you can still find all the same info on the wines below the picture.

And the our wines this month? We found some very classy regional winners. Simple fresh wines with scored very well both regionally and internationally. Nothing ostentatious, just a quiet confidence and a labeling that won me over.

The whites start with 2 classic Verdejo’s with that clean, grassy earthy taste. Both fresh but one with a far more pronounced flavor. The second is a Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc blend with a more familiar citrus taste.

For the reds, it was the “art” that got my first interest. El Miracle Art comes with 6 different labels, each one more beautiful than the first. Get past the artwork and get into this blend of 5 differnet grapes that scored an amazing 90 points in the Guia PEÑIN (the Spanish “Michellin”). Great balance and tannin – we loved it. The 2nd red is a 100% Tempranillo reserve that gives you a very full, silky leathery taste. This wine made Wine Enthusiast’s top 100 list. Very exclusive company! Both these wines are brought to you from our new IWCoK supplier Taberna.
