Getting high in the Alps

And once again, the holidays are catching us all a little of guard – sorry for the delay folks.

This month we have decided to pair two of our favorite holiday destinations with each other.

In the right half of the box, are the Austrian wines with the lovely Alpine view. You may have come across Hillinger before during your travels in Austria, as the brand is readily available in many Austrian stores. What you don’t know is that Leo Hillinger and team are Austrian wine “Mavericks”. A modern wine winery really pushing the envelope in modern wine making. Knowing that these guys started without a vineyard, and made the business into what it is today was a massive achievement. This speaks of quality, capacity and the drive to try new things.

In the left half of the box, comes a traditional Italian family vineyard overlooking the other side of the Alps. Pisoni’s wines hailing form Trentino are that old school flavor that you look for in Italy. Authentic local varieties with a flavor that says, “More salami – NOW !”. I have told you about the local Pisoni ambassador “Lupo” before, and he is the perfect guy to communicate the personal message these wines deserve. Two special things here – All Pisoni’s wines are “Bio”, and this is our first Trentino winery.
