The start of ANOTHER year with IWCoK. Yes baby, we are going into year twelve with a focus on two big F’s. France and Fresh.
Fresh because I found a couple fantastic Sauvignon Blanc that really hit the mark for their price. I love that crisp, peachy and mineral filled flavour that gives you the feeling your mouth has been ‘detailed’. Super clean. And what better than after cleaning up than to go down a more indulgent path with two Riesling. Long with sweet and acidic flavours that always keep you guessing.
France because we stumbled on a red that I ABSOLUTELY fell in love with. And even if the name isn’t sexy in meaning, “Au Vieux Goblets” sounds dead sexy in French. Mix in a spicy Syrah, a simple but very palatable Pinot Noir, and a cuvee the size of a beast, you have all the ingredients for what ever you are cooking this weekend.

Mike's Tip
Grass, straw and citrus. The very light coloured white is a blessing of crisp yet light flavours that is perfect for white fish, or salads. Like the Vivino rating, we were impressed too!

Mike's Tip
This Riesling is a combination of strong grapefruit and lemon grass flavours. Expect a higher acidity and mineral presence in the mouth, and a extended oily finish.. Will do well with salty foods.

Mike's Tip
A fresh and fruity nose with hints of peach and almonds. This wine has a powerful, long finish that you will find a bit spicy (and salty) . This wine will do well with Asian food.

Mike's Tip
Super interesting mix of sweet fruits and what I would swear wear cucumbers and honey and clove. Plenty of flavour in a balanced sweet and acidic blend.

Mike's Tip
I found the wine as playful as the label. This "Mocking Bird" is a natural wine full of cherries and strong red fruits. The finish is short and dry having no bitter end.

One of my top red wines of the past year! What a surprise. This bio wine on a blend of Syrah and Cinsault, id a perfect blend of lively red fruits with a mature balance. Go in with an open mind and I guarantee a pleasant ride. TOP Wine!

Mike's Tip
Likes its sister in the box, this red is a bit mustier with stronger hints of leather and wood. Syrah pepper comes our on top, with a smooth smoky finish.

Mike's Tip
I have to admit I am not a big Pinot Noir fan, but when I find one that "works", I don't hold back. Red berries and leather accompanied by a short (not bitter) finish. Bargain price and will go great with chicken and pork.
